The Tennessee Tactical Officers Association (TTOA) Basic SWAT Course is a one-week program designed to develop comprehensive fundamental skills and techniques in individual SWAT officers, focusing on the core competencies required for a SWAT officer to integrate into a SWAT / ERT team. Students will be taught and demonstrate competency through lecture, demonstration and practical application in topics including SWAT history and modern taskings, priority of life, legal and policy issues, SWAT integration into the ICS, SWAT composition and duties, activation and risk management criteria, mental and physical stress management, basic planning considerations, individual operational skills, small team operational techniques, familiarization with full team CQB procedures, linear assault techniques, arrest and control, ladders and climbing fundamentals, tactical communications, and tactical judgment. Training will be conducted during day and night hours.
Attendees of this course will not be certified in Less-Lethal De-escalation Operations (Chemical agents, Less-Lethal Impact, and NFDD), or Individual Officer Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Medical certification, during this course due to time constraints. These two critical skills will be offered through stand-alone TTOA Courses which we strive to provide at the same location the week immediately following the TTOA Basic SWAT Course. These two courses are taught through the TTOA Less-Lethal De-escalation Course (24 Hours) and SWAT Officer TCCC Course (16 Hours).
This is a law enforcement / military only course. This is a TN POST compliant course.
